I see from the Environment Agency website that the flood plain for the River Thame runs very close to residential areas of Watermead. This year has certainly been as good a test as any with the heavy rainfall, but have any residential properites on Watermead been ever been affected by environmental flooding? In particular I am intersted in the area to the south of the Watermead entrance road off the A413 and the west of Turnstone Way. There are to be 2 schools and businesses as well as main roads planned. I personally like the piece and quiet that Watermead offers and i am sure many other residents do to. I will oppose this development at every opportunity. How many residents of Watermead have received this 26 page consultation on the three options? I was not aware of it until a couple of days ago, yet the District Council have set a deadline of 12 December for the questionnaires to be returned.

I can find no postings on this site by the Parish Council regarding one of the options, which is to build right up to the border on the east side of Watermead.

If this proposal is approved we shall be surrounded on all sides and Watermead will be swallowed up into the middle of a massive housing estate. Our community will be totally disrupted and probably suffer from extensive flooding if the present irrigation channel on the eastern side is removed!

It is very sad to see the potential being wasted. The area round the pub and the shops which could be wonderful appears to have been neglected with an empty shabby fountain and litter all around. What a pity that the pub and shops and the people who use them don't appear to have any pride in their area. There are lovely houses but what a shame.
