We live at 4 Stork Close on Watermead and do not receive a copy of the “Village View” magazine. Obviously we would like to receive it and if there is a requirement for extra distributors of said mag, then I would like to volunteer!

    Thank you,

    Nigel.

    Hi,

I may be moving to Watermead very soon. I see from the Environment Agency website that the flood plain for the River Thame runs very close to residential areas of Watermead.

This year has certainly been as good a test as any with the heavy rainfall, but have any residential properites on Watermead been ever been affected by environmental flooding?

In particular I am intersted in the area to the south of the Watermead entrance road off the A413 and the west of Turnstone Way. Does this flood, but more importantly , has it ever been a risk to properties?

    Regards
    Graham

To the best of my knowledge no homes on Watermead have ever been flooded.

    Thanks.

I found this very recent article which backs that up too:

    http://www.bucksherald.co.uk/ontheagenda/Stormy-subject–.3078123.jp

“However, Mr Dalby believes that Watermead is also a good example of how you can build houses in flood risk areas as long as you take adequate flood protection measures.

He said: “The lakes were built on Watermead as a flood prevention measure. The fact that the area did not flood during the heavy rains in the last few weeks shows that flood prevention works.”"

we had the pleasure of living on osprey walk for a while ,prior to returning to australia, and recall one period of flooding that came very close to the threshholds of a few homes near the lakeside;has any newer measures been put into place to reduce the flood risk, or was that simply a very high water level? i recall the guy at no.6 osprey running around with sandbags , and he did offer to lend a boat for rescue purposes….and of course the fishes were closer to our front door! but that was the highest level i saw in the years we lived there, apparently last summer there was a lot of rain, did the same flood occur?

I would like to know how many Watermead residents are aware of the impending 10 thousand houses that are being proposed for the large farmers fields alongside the Watermead etates. I have visited the proposals at Bierton town hall and there appears to be every kind of consideration except local community opinion. There are to be 2 schools and businesses as well as main roads planned. I personally like the piece and quiet that Watermead offers and i am sure many other residents do to. I will oppose this development at every opportunity.

DIRECTION OF HOUSING GROWTH AT AYLESBURY

How many residents of Watermead have received this 26 page consultation on the three options? I was not aware of it until a couple of days ago, yet the District Council have set a deadline of 12 December for the questionnaires to be returned.

I can find no postings on this site by the Parish Council regarding one of the options, which is to build right up to the border on the east side of Watermead.

If this proposal is approved we shall be surrounded on all sides and Watermead will be swallowed up into the middle of a massive housing estate. Our community will be totally disrupted and probably suffer from extensive flooding if the present irrigation channel on the eastern side is removed!

This proposal needs to be rejected before it even comes to the discussion table. There are 2 other options mentioned, of which I would suggest that the combined East and Southern Growth is the best solution if more houses have to be built in Aylesbury.

Who is going to buy them anyway, the new development at Buckingham Park is already having difficulties in selling the properties?
