Watermead Parish Council respond to BCC’s proposed WaterRider Bus route extension

The Parish Council has come under a lot of unfair criticism relating to the WaterRider Bus route due to the misinformation coming out of BCC. BCC implied that Watermead Parish Council were in agreement with the newly proposed route when in fact they hadn’t even discussed it.

Watermead Parish Council has now discussed this issue at their recent meeting held on the 20th September 2007 (attended by 47 parishioners) and concluded:

• An alternative route should be sought which does not involve turning a cul de sac into a through road.

• It is important that full consultation is undertaken. All householders to the north side of the roundabout on the link road (i.e. Ayleswater to Kestrel Way and surrounding properties) must be consulted.

• The option discussed at the Members’ Briefing, to leave the route as it is already, with no extension, should be included in the consultation.

In an effort to convey their position publicly the Parish Council have agreed to publish the full response in an open letter for all to see.

You can see the full response here.

It is important to remember that Watermead Parish Council is merely consultative and will act in accordance with parishioners’ wishes directly but the ultimate decision lies with the BCC Cabinet Member for Transportation, Valerie Lethern.

If you would like to put your views forward to Mrs Letheren she can be contacted at: vletheren@buckscc.gov.uk
